The Big Idea – These Days
French sextet The Big Idea drops “These Days”, a post-punk manifesto from their upcoming album “Half a Dozen” arriving October 17th via Howlin’ Banana Records & Exag’ Records.
The La Rochelle band begins with a biting guitar riff, then transitions into intense spoken word territory. You can hear echoes of Squid or Crack Cloud, but The Big Idea takes a different path: less brass, more fuzz-dipped amps creating tension without artifice.
“These Days” channels Black Country, New Road’s approach to spoken word but cranks up the distortion. The band operates in modern post-punk space while staying singable enough for loud rock bars. It’s a sound that follows current indie trends but deviates just enough to feel fresh.
The track serves as lead single from their autumn release, proving French bands can hold their own in the current post-punk revival.
